What is Phumi Music?
Phumi Music is a free music distribution platform that allows independent artists to upload their music and distribute it to 50+ streaming stores worldwide — including Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and many more. We take zero commission on your royalties.
Is Phumi Music really free?
Yes, 100% free. There are no subscription fees, no annual charges, and no per-release fees. We do not take any percentage of your royalties either. You keep every cent you earn from your music.
Who can use Phumi Music?
Any independent artist, band, producer, or record label can use Phumi Music. Whether you're releasing your very first track or managing a full catalog, our platform is designed to scale with your career.
Do I retain ownership of my music?
Absolutely. You retain 100% ownership and copyright of all your music. Phumi Music acts only as a distributor — we never claim any rights to your creative work.
How long does distribution take?
Most stores go live within 24–72 hours of submission. Spotify and Apple Music typically process within 24 hours. Some smaller stores may take up to 5 business days. We recommend submitting your release at least 1 week before your planned release date.
Which stores do you distribute to?
We deliver to 50+ stores including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, TikTok, Deezer, Tidal, Pandora, iHeart Radio, Napster, Tencent Music (for China), and many more global and regional platforms.
Can I set a future release date?
Yes! During the upload process, you can schedule your release for any future date. This allows you to build hype and get Spotify's pre-save and Apple Music pre-order features activated ahead of launch.
Can I remove a release from stores?
Yes, you can take down any release at any time from your dashboard. Removal from stores typically takes 24–72 hours. Note that any stream counts or reviews on those platforms cannot be restored once removed.
How do I get paid?
Royalties are collected from all stores monthly and deposited directly to your registered payment method (bank account or PayPal). Payments are processed within the first 10 days of each month for the previous month's earnings.
What percentage of royalties do I keep?
You keep 100% of your net royalties. Phumi Music does not deduct any commission or service fee from your earnings. The only deductions are from the DSPs themselves (e.g., Spotify pays approximately $0.003–$0.005 per stream, which is the store's rate, not our fee).
Is there a minimum payout threshold?
Yes, the minimum payout threshold is $10 USD. If your balance is below this amount, it will roll over to the following month until it reaches the minimum threshold for withdrawal.
What audio formats do you accept?
We accept WAV (recommended, 16-bit or 24-bit, 44.1kHz minimum), FLAC, and high-quality MP3 (320kbps minimum). For best results and platform compatibility, we strongly recommend submitting WAV files.
What are the cover art requirements?
Cover art must be a perfect square (1:1 ratio), minimum 3000×3000 pixels, in JPG or PNG format. It should not contain any store logos, URLs, or explicit imagery that violates platform guidelines.
Do you support ISRC and UPC codes?
Yes. We automatically assign ISRC codes to each track and UPC codes to each release at no extra charge. If you already have your own ISRC or UPC codes, you can enter them manually during the upload process.
Can I edit my release after it goes live?
Minor metadata updates (like lyrics, artist bio, or contributor credits) can be made after release. However, changing the audio file, track title, or artwork requires a new submission and may reset your stream counts on some platforms.
